Harlow proudly participated in the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Conference 2024, held at the ACC Liverpool on 8-9 May 2024. This event is a highlight in the midwifery and maternity calendar, drawing professionals dedicated to advancing maternity services and midwifery education. The conference kicked off with an inspiring address from Gill Walton, Chief Executive and General Secretary of RCM, and featured a series of sessions focused on narrowing health inequalities and promoting inclusivity in maternity care.
In collaboration with our long-standing partner, the Perinatal Institute (PI), Harlow exhibited a range of maternity products. Our shared stand showcased our work in producing maternity notes and folders, maternity guidelines, and Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) products. These tools are designed to enhance the quality and safety of maternity care, reflecting our commitment to supporting healthcare professionals in delivering the best possible outcomes for mothers and babies.
The Perinatal Institute, a nationally recognised not-for-profit organisation, is renowned for its comprehensive maternity support services, including education and training in standardised maternity records, fetal growth assessment, and perinatal audits. Our partnership with PI is a testament to our shared dedication to improving maternity care across the UK.
Harlow’s maternity notes, developed from user feedback, provide an integrated approach to antenatal, intrapartum, and immediate postnatal care for mothers. These notes are evidence-based and support comprehensive care provision, ensuring that midwives have the information they need to deliver effective and safe care. Separate booklets for postnatal care for mother and baby complement the Perinatal Maternity Notes, ensuring a complete episode of care is documented.
“Harlow was delighted to participate in the RCM Conference 2024,” said our Managing Director, Jack Harrison. “This event offered an invaluable opportunity for us to network with leading professionals in midwifery and maternity care, learn about the latest innovations, and showcase our products designed to support maternity services. The positive feedback we received on our collaborative efforts with the Perinatal Institute, particularly regarding our maternity notes and guidelines, was especially encouraging.”
The RCM Conference featured sessions on critical topics such as narrowing health inequalities, presented by Carla Stanke, public health specialist at Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP), and Clare Livingstone, quality and standards advisor at RCM. Other notable speakers included Professor Alison McFadden from the University of Dundee, Dalvir Kandola from University Hospitals Leicester, and Sarah Esegbona-Adeigbe from London South Bank University. These sessions underscored the importance of evidence-based practice, education, and leadership in delivering safe and effective maternity care.
Harlow is honoured to be at the forefront of innovation in maternity support. Our participation in the RCM Conference 2024 reinforced our commitment to enhancing the quality and safety of maternity care through our expertise and innovative products.
